It doesn't work very well for me, even though it has room for a pair of scissors and a pen.

I've been looking for a cute, useful coupon holder, but not one to break the bank. I've seen the kind that clip onto the front of the shopping cart, but they just inspire me. And yes, I realize that coupon organizers probably don't inspire anyone, but I want to be inspired to keep up the coupon clipping and every little bit will help.

If you like the simple one I've shown here is the link to it. I am still very new to it, so it is a learning experience every time I go to the store.

My sister Dawn is able to save a large amount each time because she is strategic about what she purchases and where she buys from.

I was never interested in coupons, thinking that it took too much time and didn't save enough money to be worth it.

Jeff and I have recently agreed on a new budget for 2009 and are actively working to cut back on expenses so that we can pay off our debts and accomplish our goals sooner. It seemed to make sense from that perspective that coupons could help.

There are several schools of thought as to the easiest way to keep track of coupons and match-ups, and like I said I am still learning. I know that some of them won't work for me because they require too much work, or too much ongoing work. I have been cutting every coupon, regardless if it's a product I know we use. That way I can send the ones we won't use to other family members who might.

You Are What You Eat

Jennifer turned me on to this BBC America show where Gillian McKeith, a doctor and holistic nutritionist tells people what they are eating wrong and puts them on a detox diet for 8 weeks. I've watched a lot of her episodes and Jeff has seen many of them with me. I ordered her cookbook and two of her other books from Amazon. Jeff has agreed that we should follow her instructions- ok, maybe not all of them since she is very strict, but we'll see what we can do. I asked Jeff yesterday about taking a before picture so that we can put up before & after pictures- heck, maybe some "along the way" pictures too.

I'm excited about it and we are even planning a trip to Whole Foods (there is not one near us) this weekend to pick up some of the things she mentions that you can't get at our Kroger (aduki beans and tahini for starters).

And yes, for those that watch I will tell you how many "stones" Jeff loses.

Personally, I think that I will have the hardest time with it since I am not a fish person and she focuses on fish as your primary meat during the detox process. Neither of us likes to cook so that will also be a challenge, but I am hoping that we can make larger portions on the weekend and freeze it for during the week to make it easier on us.

Starting weight: just a hair under 18.5 stones
